>Afghans are not going to get swine 'flu

>Apparently Afghanistan does not have many pigs. 1 in fact. In a zoo. And it has been locked away,

Afghanistan’s only known pig has been locked in a room, away from visitors to Kabul zoo where it normally grazes beside deer and goats, because people are worried it could infect them with the virus popularly known as swine flu.

I checked the date but it wasn’t April 1.

Is there any real risk?

There are no pig farms in Afghanistan and no direct civilian flights between Kabul and Mexico.

“We understand that, but most people don’t have enough knowledge. When they see the pig in the cage they get worried and think that they could get ill,” Saqib said.

Frankly the whole article is hilarious.

I wonder how they handle a pig at an Islamic zoo. Most of their peasants are superstitious about even touching them.

I love it! It makes about as much sense as Lewis Carroll’s non-sense poem, “The Hunting of the Snark”, where there is that great court scene during which it is proclaimed that – “the pig must die” – actually the poem makes much more sense than what happened to the poor pig in the zoo. Visit here (http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/thehuntingofthesnark/thepigmustdie.htm) for the lyrics of this great poem which was turned in to a extremely well done musical (Mike Batts production) featuring Sir John Gielgud, Roger Daltrey, Julian Lennon, Sir Cliff Richard, Art Garfunkel and Denice Williams
